West Village Living Room

West Village Vacation House

(SEVENTEEN IMAGES)

This project was fantastic!! A wonderful family wanted to spend some more time in New York, so they decided to buy a place in the West Village.

The apartment serves as a pied-a-terre for this very active family, who love discovering new restaurants and nightlife, as well as seeing all the latest Broadway shows in the city.

The Living/Dining area serves as "Home Base" for their daily activities as well as hosting the occasional guests.

West Village Living Room

The Living Room screams "Elegant Comfort." Beautiful and easy-to-maintain leather furniture is very inviting for all to sit down and grab a snack, or watch a movie on the flat-screen TV, hung whimsically on an old artist's easel.

Interesting occasional tables allow for plenty of surfaces to rest a glass of wine while hanging out with family and friends.

West Village Dining Room

The Dining Area features a great round table, perfect for game night! A beautiful walnut and teak bar cabinet holds plenty of bottles and glasses for a party! We added sconces for more light as well as a mirror, framed in the tin from an old ceiling.

A gorgeous original print from photographer Matthew Pillsbury hangs prominently on the wall and features one of the Village's most famous landmarks, the Washington Square Arch. This was the family's favorite piece of art, so we made sure to hang it in a place where they can enjoy it every day!

West Village Coffee Table

Detail: We just love this old railroad cart coffee table! What a cool way to add a vintage element with interest and texture!

West Village Window Treatment

Detail: The multi-layered window treatments in the Living Room include a leather cornice with nailhead trim and these beautiful ethnic striped panels on each side. Solar shades within can filter the sun and add privacy during the day, while blackout shades are perfect for movie nights!

West Village Master Bedrooom

The Master Bedroom features a big comfortable bed with upholstered headboard, plenty of pillows and a comfortable down comforter. Mirrored furniture is a hit and looks great with the fabulous silver wallpaper!

A chaise by the window is the perfect little reading area.

West Village Master Bedroom Wallpaper

Detail: The wallpaper in the Master Bedroom consists of a silver background with thousands and thousands of tiny glass beads... it's a true showstopper that shimmers in the most fantastic way!

West Village Guest Bedroom

The second bedroom does great double-duty for the children. This brightly-colored loveseat folds down into a full size bed at night, and the closet to the right offers plenty of built-in storage shelves and drawer space!

West Village Guest Bedroom

On the other side of the second bedroom is a desk that can be used for homework during the day, and folds down to a twin bed at night. Hanging closet space is found to the right of this bed... we really maximized the space and included so much into this room!

West Village Kitchen Sink

The kitchen features beautiful granite countertops, a stainless steel commercial sink, fabulous modern faucet, and this amazing glass mosaic tile backsplash with custom chocolate-brown colored grout!

West Village Linen Closet

We designed and built this custom linen closet to add plenty of room for sheets and towels, and this great lower paneled door which hides the laundry hamper. Who says that a closet can't look as beautiful as the rest of an apartment?!

West Village Marble Bathroom

This bathroom was designed as a sleek, modern, open space using the absolute BEST materials and finishes available.

Beautiful white and rich chocolate brown marbles are combined in the most modern way, while adding visual interest, and having the materials themselves be the "star" of the room.

Bronze hardware that is rich to the eyes and the touch adds the right amount of warmth to the room that was doubled in size from its original footprint, and makes the owners happy each time they step inside.

West Village Marble Bathroom

The vanity and mirror are a dark espresso-finish wood, and chosen to be oversized/overscaled to fool the eye give the feeling of space, with more surface area for the countertop and more light reflection in the medicine cabinet mirror. The lights flanking the mirror echo the tile desaign in the walls, and the incomparable statuary marble vanity top is a showstopper in its beauty. Simple but luxurious hardware was chosen to compliment the look of the room.

West Village Bathroom

The tile design was executed with white Thassos tile from Greece, and stripes of Moleskine mosaic tile from Italy. The suggestion of crown molding, a chair rail and base molding was made using different widths of tile. Towel bars and plumbing fixtures were placed along the mosaic tile lines to create a seamless, modern look. The toilet was chosen not only for its sleek and modern lines, but it also has an automatic-flush feature that is activated when one waves a hand above the sensor!

West Village Bathroom Shower

The beautiful shower doors are partially frosted for privacy, but clear to create the feeling of space. A beautiful bronze rain showerhead hangs high overhead, and mosaic tile on the floor below creates the ultimate in luxury for those taking a shower each and every morning!

The family who lives here LOVES their new home! It was a total gut renovation that gave them this amazing fresh new space. They love to spend quality time together in New York, and this is the perfect comfortable-yet-elegant setting. They look forward to making many memories together in their fabulous West Village home!
